PADI Instructor Education Course (IDC).
The PADI Instructor Training Course (IDC), is designed to help instructors prepare for the PADI instructor exam. Candidates are tested in the classroom and in confined water. Course Orientation
You've probably been to a PADI IDC and know how important the orientation phase is for your success. PADI Staff Instructors are responsible for the evaluation of teaching presentations. This instructor can help you if you have difficulties understanding or learning a topic. The IDC instructor will review all aspects of the curriculum and give constructive feedback.
The PADI Instructor Development Program will allow you to understand the principles and practice of the PADI System of Education and Practice. The Dive Industry Overview and General Standards and Procedures will be covered. Depending upon the IDC focus, the orientation section can take up to three full days.
Open Water Teaching Presentations
The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) involves two required Open Water Teaching Presentations. These presentations are critical for the overall success in the IDC program. PADI IDC candidates will need to be proficient in two skills at the same dive. These skills may be from different courses. Candidates must practice these presentations before the IDC to ensure that they can master them correctly. Candidates should also be confident and well-versed in all aspects of their PADI Divemaster course.
PADI Instructor Development Course requires nine (9) IDC Curriculum presentations. These presentations will be given by the PADI Course Director or IDC Staff. They should contain a Knowledge Development Teaching presentation along with two skills presentations from Rescue Diver Course. The cost for the PADI Instructor Development Courses (IDCs) varies depending on where it is taken. The course can be taken in Australia, Asia or Europe. The prices are usually in GBP or AUD and paid to the PADI office at Sydney, Australia. The price can be much higher in some areas than others, so make sure to factor in the cost of living in the location you'll be taking the course. You can then choose to take the course in your local area or do it remotely.
PADI IDC prices include application and exam fees. All course materials required to complete the PADI IDC program are included in their cost. Although the prices of PADI IDC courses vary, most include both. The additional application fee will apply, but if you are planning to complete both courses, you will get a discount. If you want to save money on your IDC you can choose to enroll in a program which offers both the EFR Instructor and these courses. The PADI IDC price includes the EFR Instructor rating as well as the PADI Specialties Instructor rating.
