Dive Sites in LA

White Point dive site is one of the best in LA. It features white bacterial mats on the bottom and is near the hypo-thermal hot springs. It also has an old shipwreck rock reef and kelp bed. Giant sea stars, urchins, and cold water anemones are also common sights here. High tide is best for diving.

Leo Carillo

Leo Carrillo La is a California state parks located along Los Angeles County's southern coast. It is part Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area. It has 1.5 miles on the beach, which extends into Santa Monica Mountains. The pristine waters off Leo Carrillo State Park are a great place for scuba divers.

Divers can choose from three main dive sites at Leo Carrillo. These sites are excellent for beginners with easy entry points. There is ample parking. These sites are also popular for night diving, lobster hunting, and you'll find plenty of marine life.

Santa Barbara Island

Santa Barbara Island has some great offshore dive spots. Visitors can hop on a visiting boat to get out to these dive sites. These dive sites are often rugged and make great hunting and photography spots. These areas also have healthy kelp beds, purple hydro coral, and other natural resources. Moreover, the visibility here is excellent for Southern California waters.


Visitors to the island can also take part in snorkeling and kayaking. You can even tent camp, if the weather allows. There is a large population pinnipeds on the island, which includes harbor seals. These animals can be seen in the rocks surrounding the sea lion nestery. There are several overlooks on the island.

Anacapa Island

Anacapa Island hosts a wide range of marine life. One of the United States' first Marine Protected Areas is located in this area. The area offers diving opportunities that are both excellent for experienced and beginners. The waters around the island have a moderately warm temperature, which makes them ideal for wetsuit diving. In the fall and late summer, surface temperatures can reach 70 degrees F (21 degrees Celsius). In winter, temperatures may drop as low to 50 degrees F (10oC). It is recommended to use a 7mm wetsuit. During these months visibility is typically at least 100ft (30M).

Dive charter boats and Island Packers can access the Anacapa dive spot. There are many dive locations on the island. One of them is a 40-foot-tall archrock. These sites can also be viewed from the surface using snorkeling gear.

Veteran's park

Veteran's Park is a Green Space on Ocean Drive that has a playground and fields. This is a great place to bring your family together. It's also near the beaches. The park offers a spectacular view of the ocean on a sunny day. It is open throughout the year and has plenty to offer.

The parking lot makes it easy to get to the park. If you're a first-time diver, Veteran's Park is the best place to start your diving adventure. It is easily accessible with restrooms and parking. A meter is available for checking, and you can also use the outdoor shower to rinse your clothes. A changing area is available in the park, with restrooms being close to dusk.
