Advanced open water diver

Open water divers who have completed an Open Water Diver Course, and obtained an AOW certificate are called advanced open water divers. AOW divers can dive deeper than the recommended 60 feet. AOW divers are also capable of improving buoyancy and air consumption. Advanced open water divers may also be able to perform specialty dives, such as wreck diving. There are several levels of AOW certificates. Listed below are the differences between these levels. To learn more about these different levels, read on!

Rescue diver

There are three types of Rescue Diver certificates: one for recreational diving, the other for technical diving and one for dive leader. International Standards Organisation (ISO), sets the standards for these levels. These training levels are based upon BS EN 14413-2 and ISO 24801-1, 2004. Level-one instructors have the ability to instruct recreational divers. They can also assess their knowledge up until level one and plan and manage dives. They can also lead divers in open waters and assist with rescue operations.

Cave-1 class

Cave diver certification requires at least 40 hours of classroom instruction and practical experience. Course content includes information on hazards and the challenges of the environment, standard procedures and emergency procedures. During the cave course, students are assessed on their skills through two sections: academics as well as water-based exercises. They must also demonstrate their proficiency and skills by passing an exam. The student must also complete a cave dive manual.
